Furry Friends of Lime Tree

At the beginning of the year, we invited parents to join different working parties to work in partnership with the school to support us in identifying key next steps and celebrate successes in different areas of the school. One working party focused on the use of pets in school as therapy. The parents who signed up to the pets working party came to discuss the possibility of having pets in school.

Miss Trimmer, our  Assistant Head Teacher and SENCO, has spent the last few months socialising two longhaired Peruvian Guinea Pigs. Although when they were rescued they had names, as they do not know them, we will be giving the children an opportunity to name them.

Responsibility is one of our four school values and is part of the rationale behind having pets within the school environment. We would like to encourage the children to take responsibility for our pets and will be creating new leadership opportunities for them.

Please lookout for the letter and consent form that has been sent out to all parents/carers. We would be grateful if you would indicate consent for your child to be in contact with the Guinea Pigs and highlight any known allergy, and then return this to your child’s class teacher asap.
