GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

How can we reduce evaporation?

Children will explore the different states of matter and use this knowledge to gain an understanding of evaporation and its place in the water cycle.

Through investigations, children will design and make an effective clay bird bath which will reduce the rate of evaporation.


Project outcomes:

  • Design & make a bird bath designed to reduce evaporation
  • Present investigations showing:
  • How surface area affects the rate of evaporative
  • How temperature affects the rate of evaporation

Autumn 2



What was the impact of the Roman invasion on Britain?

  • Using an armature and wire children to create Roman buildings.
  • Children to create examples of Roman catapults.

Design and construct a motorised cam toy representing an object from the Victorian era

Produce a Viking coin purse with a printed personal Monogram

Class assembly presenting responses to the question ‘How is Britain a product of invasion?’

Performance Arts

To create a stand that aims to persuade people to visit.

It should include:

  • A persuasive presentation about their chosen country which includes capital city, location and key human and physical geography elements
  • A dish inspired by the country
  • A piece of music performed that is inspired by the county
