Computing
Computing at Lime Tree Primary School
At Lime Tree Primary School, we aim to develop confident, creative and responsible users of technology. Our computing curriculum helps pupils understand how technology works and how it can be used safely and effectively in everyday life.
Computing Curriculum
We follow the Teach Computing Curriculum, to support the delivery of the National Curriculum for Computing. Through this curriculum, pupils develop knowledge and skills in three key areas:
Computer Science – learning how computers work and developing programming and problem-solving skills.
Information Technology – using technology to create digital content such as documents, presentations, images and data.
Digital Literacy – learning how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.
Skills are built progressively from Year 1 to Year 6 so that pupils develop confidence and independence with technology.
Online Safety
Online safety is a key part of our computing curriculum and is taught throughout the school year. Pupils learn how to keep personal information private, behave responsibly online and recognise when to seek help from a trusted adult. We encourage children to think carefully about what they see and share online.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Children are increasingly exposed to technology that uses artificial intelligence. We introduce pupils to AI in an age-appropriate way, helping them understand what it is, where it is used and why it is important to think critically about the information technology provides.
